The Wild Blue Yonder

Do you hear that?

It's the buzz.
The hype.
The excitement of hundreds of writers making ready for the annual Write! Canada Conference in Guelph, Ontario.

The whole shindig gets underway this Wednesday night in Mississauga with the Gala Event. Here's a spiel about it:

Celebrate with us! Plan now to attend The Word Guild Canadian Christian Writing Awards Gala Wednesday, June 11th at 7:30 p.m. at World Vision Canada, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ont.
Are you an avid reader or aspiring writer? Come meet real live Canadian Christian writers (yes, we exist!) Find out who published the best novels, non-fiction books, magazine articles, poems and scripts in 2007. Get dressed up (black-tie event). Applaud the winners.
Laugh with emcee Herbie Kuhn, popular speaker and in-house announcer for the Toronto Raptors. Get autographs. Mingle with writers during the reception.
Advance tickets $12, $15 at the door. Order through TicketWindow.ca or phone 1-877-700-3130. (Each Write! Canada registrant receives one free ticket to the Gala.)

The Gala also marks the official launch of Hot Apple Cider, the anthology featuring 30 Canadian authors who are Christian. The book is available anywhere you buy books and online at all the hottest spots.

Thursday afternoon begins the Write!Canada conference. Think you'd like to come? Here's good news for you!

Late Fee Waived for Write! Canada Registration Attention all procrastinators!
Because some people learned about Write! Canada for the first time during the 100 Huntley Street airing on June 4, we want to give them an opportunity to register for the conference. Therefore, we have waived the late fee that was scheduled to go into effect for registrations on or after June 1. NOTE CHANGE: The full conference package, including meals, will be available for registrations that are received until Monday June 9 at 12 noon (Ontario time).
After that time, online registration for Write! Canada will close. Spaces will still be available at the conference, but you will need to come as a "walk-in" registrant, and meals will no longer be included. Accommodation will be subject to availability (Inn accommodation is sold out).
You will need to arrive at the Guelph Bible Conference Grounds and register and pay in person.
More information will be posted on June 9 about the "walk-in" procedure and accommodation availability.

Write! Canada is a conference for writers of all types and at all stages. It offers three days of solid instruction, stimulating interaction, exciting challenge, and worshipful community.
Writers from beginner to professional will sharpen their skills through classes by top-notch instructors on writing their personal experiences, writing for newspapers and magazines, screenwriting, blogging, book publishing, promotion, media relations and much more.
Meet experts from mainstream and Christian book publishing, consumer and church press magazines, newspapers, film, television, radio and new media.
Take advantage of networking opportunities, manuscript critique services, appointments with literary agents and editors, question and answer panels with industry professionals, open-mike reading sessions and a well-stocked bookstore.
I'll be flying off to the event this coming Wednesday. I hope to see you there.
I bid you good writing.
