Ahh, December

Some cool stuff:

I'm the "International Featured Author" for Christian Fiction Online's December issue.
My contribution is called Writer, eh? And I think you are all clever enough to figure out what it is about. After I sent the article in, the editor shot a note back saying, "This is one of the funniest and wittiest articles I've read"

Awww, gosh, thanks. Be sure to check out the entire magazine.

The Tenacity Interviews are coming to Fiction Matters beginning January 5, 2009. This is the first interview series I've run on the blog. Like everyone else, I've been watching and reading a great deal about the state of the global economy. Tough times mean we all have to reach deeper into our pockets of tenacity in order to make sense of our day to day lives. In The Tenacity Interviews, I've asked published authors to answer 7 questions about tenacity. I'll be sharing those interviews with you January to April 2009. Questions include: How long did you write for before being published? Who was you biggest support, and what did they do to support you? What has your tenacity taught you about yourself? And more. No two authors have the same questions. It promises to be an inspiring series.

Also in January, the official launch of Novel Matters is January 5, 2009. This is a new blog featuring 7 authors (myself included) talking about the rich world of novels. There is little to read there at the moment, but hop on over and enjoy a feast for the eyes, then, be sure to book mark the site!

Update on Talking to the Dead: You see I've added a countdown to the release date of Talking to the Dead. June 1, 2009 is the official date, but it will be available online a wee bit earlier. I'll let you know when it is available for pre-order. In the next week I'll be starting line edits. In this process my editor, Nicci Jordan Hubert will send me piles and piles of mistakes to fix like grammar, punctuation, as well as wording choice fix ups and who knows what else. Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to the process as I know I will learn a ton. I'll be sharing the process with you, faithful reader, as I go through it.

A New Novel: I've begun work on a brand new novel; I LOVE it. I know, I know, writer's always love their own work. True 'nuff, but I just wanted to share a wee bit about this new project. It will be published by David C. Cook (same fine folks who are publishing Talking to the Dead), spring 2010. I don't have a name for it, YET, but I'm having a fantastic time writing it. I sent a sample to my fab editor Nicci and she wrote back saying, "Okay, first off... I love you! You amaze me."

*cough* Wow! I'm a happy gal! And I'm having a ball working on this book. I think readers will have a ball with it too!

Many of you know there was going to be a sequel to Talking to the Dead, but those plans have been changed. Instead, I've wrapped the story up in one book, and have been given the green light to write this new, totally different book (which I am presently referring to as, Gabby Wells the Musical. No, it's not a musical. No, there is no singing and dancing. No, I don't know why I'm calling it that. Yes, yes, I am a bit daft.)

Canadian Blog Awards: Fiction Matters made the cut to round 2 of voting (they cut from 22 blogs, down to 5!) Thanks to all of you who voted in round one. I really appreciate it! Round 2 of voting starts December 1 and runs for the week. You are allowed one vote per round. You can cast your vote at the official vote site. I'm sure many of you surfed the different Canadian blogs showcased on the site.
Looking forward to a great December, and a joyous New Year with you!
I bid you good writing.

Howdy!

Thanks for sharing all you're up to- it's exciting to see how other writers are getting to their goals, one step at a time.

Congrats! And good luck on the one you're currently writing!

Hey Lynn, Thanks so much! It's a very exciting time - I'm learning so much as I go, too which adds to the thrills and chills. Thanks so much for your kind words.

Avily, Thanks for popping in! You are so right, it's one step at a time - and one day at a time. It's a fun journey - I wonder where I'll end up??

Cool, congrats, is it wrong to be jealous? :) Happy for you.

Congrats on reaching top 5. I did vote once more for the second round. If not personal can you share how did you get the publisher for your book, how did you convince the publisher, what is the advance you got etc. Thank you.

Koala, I think jealous is natural, but then God nudges us past it and shows us all the wonderful things He has for us, personally. Hugs to you, sis.

Krishna, Thanks for voting!
My story of becoming a published author is found in past blogs on this site. I am not able to share contract details - but suffice it to say every deal is different and it really helps to have an agent to help you wade through the different aspects of contracts. It's complicated!
